General

It was difficult to find a name that was still available and fitting to our product, as many fashion brands have ‘watches’ in their brand, product or collection name registration.

The concept of our brand is a revolution in the watch industry and an innovation in retail in general. We have transferred the ‘power’ over the design from the manufacturer to the consumer. We do not sell from stock, but manufacture what customers create; this is what custom made is about.

The old Latin word Volo, means 'I want' and in Italian 'volo' means flying; the ultimate symbol of freedom. This is what Revolo stand for.

We also have a completely different cooperation with the dealer. They do not have stock, but various samples to show how the product looks and feels. The retailer is working with a tablet in the store for configuring your watch. Every single watch is unique and assembeld in our atelier Amsterdam.

Before founding Revolo, I worked in several manufacturing industries, often related to Switzerland and the last 5 years as importer of Swiss Watches. Although with a desire to become an architect, I landed in marketing and sales, but always questioning what is the product for who. Also in the watch industry, we had many discussions with the brands regarding what customers and retailers liked and did not like. Honestly speaking it is quite difficult. Markets vary, customers are different, we were often wrong. People are unique. Some like to follow a trend or just a popular model, others are looking for something special.

A typical situation that I never forget is that we got a watch in for repair. Very classic automatic watch with a white dial and blue numbers, with standard a brown calfskin alligator pattern strap. The customer had changed it to a yellow silicon strap! It looked strange for me, but later I thought; who am I to say it is not beautiful? No brand would do it, because they think it is not generally fitting to the style of the watch. But we should respect people for who they are and what they want. With Revolo, it is your call. You like it; create it, get it on your wrist.

However to start, we had to solve problems in 5 areas. First we needed to develop a technical and design concept of a high quality watch being able to give customers a lot of choice, affordable and not creating an unbearable stock.

It is not easy to create a beautiful and high quality watch that costs 3.000 Euro, but it is a great challenge to do it for 300 Euro, including locally assembling single pieces.

Then we had to create the concept to enable the customer to design and see his watch. Further to that develop a business concept working were dealers and internet don't compete but are friends. After that we needed to develop the brand identity and finally, we had to find good long term thinking people to co-invest who were also able to add knowhow

We are a professional company in a start-up phase, based in Amsterdam. Currently working with 3-4 people (general, watchmaking, marketing and sales) under contract, and a team of 4-5 freelance professionals in design, branding, web- development and internet marketing. The idea is to grow to at least 6-10 employees in 2025, all depending of course if dealers and consumers support us with their orders

There are two options. One is to go to a dealer (if one in your area), evaluate the samples and create a watch there. Pay at the dealer. The watch will be shipped to the dealer or (with a small surcharge for shipping) to the address of your preference.

Another possibility, before or after visiting a dealer, is to 'create yours' in the configurator at our site, or to pick a watch that you like from our 'get inspired page' and change it in the configurator.

If you are pleased with the design and all the options, you start the order, and our system will (if you have been at a dealer) ask you if you want to pick it up there or (with a small surcharge) have it shipped to a preferred address. If your email address is not registered with us, the system will ask for your postal code/zip code. If there are dealers in or close to your area, it will ask you to select from the 3 closest dealers. After selecting a convenient dealer, you can choose your watch to be shipped to the dealer for pick up, in this case the shipping is free, or if to be shipped to your preferred address, we will charge for the cost of shipping. You will get a mail or SMS to inform you that the watch has been shipped and a shipping code. You can track your shipment and see if it will/or has been delivered to the dealer or your address.

Custom Made Quality BV  (the legal entity behind Revolo) uses Mollie; a well known secure service company that offers most payment systems commonly used in the EU, Europe and USA/Canada, such as credit cards, paypal, bank transfers, ideal, afterpay etc. So we actually never get any data regarding your credit card, bank account etc. 

Your watch will come with a quality certificate, signed by the watchmaker who has done the end control, with basic instructions and warranty information. Additional information can be found on our site. 

As we carry a small stock of finished watches and follow up direct, it can hardly be out of stock. However it can be that we have to take out certain items in our range, for being temporary out of stock or being discontinued for other reasons. If an item is temporary out of stock that is going to be continued and delivered with a certain date, we will indicate that in the configurator.

As our products are custom made, and you want to change or even cancel, do it within 24 hours. If we have not started manufacturing your watch, there is no cost to change it (besides a different price due to a different configuration). To cancel it when we have not started we will charge 5% for admin reasons (bank charges etc.). To cancel an order after we started it, is not possible, but you can change the configuration.

All watches are packed in a luxury watchbox. This is packed in a cardboard box to protect this. This box is in a corrugated transport box. Shipment varies per country. Some countries DPD, others DHL, UPS or Fedex. We standard ship economy as priority is expensive and saves only 1 or 2 days. It is insured by us.

Warranty & Returns

Send a mail to our customer service department, with the order number and a description of the problem, preferable with a photo. If it is broken when it came in, it is almost always a transport issue. However we will have the product picked up and send you a new one.

We have 2 years warranty, with some limitations, e.g.: If the damage is clearly caused by a big shock or accident with the watch. If the watch has been opened by an unauthorized service company. Straps, bracelets and batteries are not part of the warranty.

As we are not a stock but a custom made product it is not the same as with standard products bought online. Normally you cannot give a product back, but we do not like that people are unhappy with what they bought. So if you are not happy with the combination you ordered you can let us know and we will give you a code to send the watch back at your costs. We give you a code to create a new watch, but with a credit of 90%. If there is a price difference, you pay the difference and we manufacture your watch and ship it to you.

Service

In several countries we have contracted a watch service atelier, that provides the warranty and later technical service. The reason for that is to avoid customs, high parcel costs, losing time and the problem of communication due to a different time zone and language. After the warranty period, we are also open to ship parts to qualified watchmakers that can service our watches, providing them with original parts.

Our watches use well known movements, but gaskets, glass, dials and hands etc. are very specific. You always will have the opportunity to send the watch direct to us for service

Privacy

Your data are kept safe and never provided to third parties. Only used for our internal records and 'remarketing', the latter if you have agreed to that.

Pricing & Taxes

In the EU, VAT is included and there are no import taxes. Outside the EU, situations vary from country to country, but for the moment you have to pay the local taxes. In the coming year, we will work towards a situation that we can can ship including all costs, but at the moment we cannot.

At the moment, we cannot include any of these costs in our offers. But we will work with our parcel shipment companies to see how we can solve these issues in the future.
